Walker Zimmerman wore this “Man in Black” secondary match worn jersey on September 20th, 2023 during a 3-0 victory over Sporting Kansas City. He served as the club’s captain during the match.

Zimmerman provides Gary Smith’s side with a defensive stalwart that is every bit the equal to Hany Mukhtar’s offensive brilliance.

The Georgia native is a five-time MLS Best XI selection after adding to his accolades with another Best XI nod in 2023. He’s also a two-time MLS Defender of the Year (2020, 2021), receiving both of those awards during his first two seasons patrolling the backline in Nashville.

The September match against Sporting Kansas City was a strong one for Nashville SC. The 3-0 victory saw goals from Fafà Picault, Hany Mukhtar, and Jack Maher. Zimmerman contributed to the second goal scored by Mukhtar but was not awarded an assist.

Walker played 70 minutes in the match before being subbed off for Josh Bauer.

This jersey is a bit of an anomaly because it’s a Kick Childhood Cancer shirt that doesn’t feature the yellow KCC ribbon. Zimmerman’s first half shirt managed to hold onto it’s ribbon for the duration, however he lost the ribbon on the jersey at some point during the second half just before helping set up Hany Mukhtar’s 66th minute goal.

The photo to the left helps line up the time frame.

It has some moderate signs of wear with a few faint marks or scuffs. This jersey was acquired unwashed and still smells fairly strongly nearly four months later.

Zimmerman’s jersey makes a nice partner for the match worn gold one of his I also acquired from the same season.
